Job Description

This role is part of the Business Intelligence team of Shared Services organization of Information Services. The person will have responsibilities for development and execution of business intelligence strategy that includes project delivery, operations and support oversight, platform consolidation, application services, process stewardship and team talent management.  The role requires working with the Shared Services Operations and Functional verticals to discover answers of Business problems using innovative business intelligence solutions.

  • BI and Analytics Vision & Strategy. Partnership with IS teams and business in building a global Business Intelligence strategy and roadmap. Drive the global program Athena under BI and Analytics with the aim of consolidating all disparate data warehouses and deploy single version of truth through Enterprise Analytics platform.  Build and drive the BI capabilities to deliver the right information at the right time with a high degree of quality and accuracy.
  • Project Portfolio and Program Delivery.  Manage the scope, schedule, budget and resources for Business Intelligence projects delivered from the COE, while also maintaining continued enhancements to existing BI solutions.  Manage and continual improve our framework for development and maintenance of our BI platforms that ensures appropriate development guidelines, design, code reviews, deployment procedures, etc. Rapidly develop solutions across different SDLC lifecycle modules, with an understanding and appreciation of how to work in an FDA regulated environment.
  • Management of Operations, Support and Maintenance Services.  Drive managed service partnerships to high-performance levels for operations, support and maintenance of BI systems, plus engagement for additional development capacity as needed for ongoing enhancements to existing systems or new projects.
  • Team Management and Talent Development.   Manage the internal team of technical and development resources to high-performance levels; ensure appropriate staffing of roles and skills; foster and grow the team’s talent to higher levels. Work with local and functional leaders and HR to build competency for the CoE.
  • Management Reporting.  Define the communication metrics and scorecards for all the teams in COE and ensure there is integration between the GIO teams and global IS teams.
  • Data Standards & Governance.  Partners with IS Governance and Security to develop and drive data standards, data security policies and governance across the enterprise.  Monitors and manages data issues and establishes plans for continuous improvement and maintenance of data quality and integrity between transactional source systems and reporting environments

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: (Detailed Description)

  • The Manager will work closely with the Subject Matter Expert teams to ensure business requirements are captured in enough detail to deliver a working BI Solution.  The Delivery Manager will then actively manage the team responsible for designing and building the end-to-end BI Solution. 
  • The manager will be responsible for estimating the cost of delivering the solution, staffing the team, and managing the team until the solution is transitioned to Application Management for support.
  • The Manager will decide how to staff the delivery team to support the project timeline and budget parameters.  The Delivery Manager should escalate risks and issues to the COE lead in a timely and concise manner.
  • This role will also be responsible for providing overarching guidance and leadership on the technical and design aspects of Enterprise Analytics solutions at Stryker.
  • The Manager will manage a team of both Stryker employees and 3rd party resources. 
  • Strong experience in Enterprise Data Warehousing, Business Intelligence, end to end Implementations using SPA HANA, SAP BW and SAP BO.
  • Drive all the project phases (Inception , BCFM, Requirements, Functional Specification, Technical Design, Development, Testing, Cutover and Hyper Care).
  • Contribute to the solutions using SAP BW on HANA or BW4HANA to deliver capabilities meeting business functional requirements.
  • Contribution to validating business stakeholders' conceptual data models, including socializing and implementing logical and physical DW/data mart data models; identifying data sources and metadata (including business rules, definitions, attributes, etc.) to deliver analytic requirements.
  • Helping the team in designing, building, testing and deploying the technical components required for successful SAP solutions, especially RICEFs (Reports, Interfaces, Conversions, Extensions, Forms) design and development.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with the other IT technical Teams, in particular EA architecture, Infrastructure and Governance groups
  • Manage and develops Application developers and Tech Leads/ Senior Tech Leads in the team

Education & Special Trainings:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university required; Bachelor’s degree in the areas of Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Business, or equivalent field of study preferred. 
  • Advanced degree preferred
  • Agile development methodology training and experience preferred
  • Execellent communication skills, 10+ years of experience working across global teams & time zones
  • Experience working for Fortune 500 enterprise companies, adaptive to change

Qualifications & Experience:

  • 15+ years of IT experience.
  • Strong leader with excellent communication skills and 6+ years of experience in leading the skilled team
  • 10+ years of focused experience on leading data modeling and data design. This includes designing data architectures; developing Databases, Data Warehouses and Multidimensional Databases.
  • Experience in all phases of an established SDLC methodology
  • Strong recent proven experience designing solutions for BW environments
  • Minimum 10+ Years of Experience in SAP BI/BW.
  • Minimum 4+ year of experience in SAP HANA.
  • End to end BW knowledge (Back end data extraction and data modeling, Front end reporting).
  • Business process knowledge.
  • Data acquisition from both SAP (S4 and others) and non-SAP sources
  • Experience interfacing data from BW to external systems
  • Capability to build both business objects and Power BI reports on top of BW 
  • Good communication skills and ability to collaborate with multiple teams (internal/external, technical/business).
  • Strong PL/SQL knowledge on any database.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership skills.
  • Experience documenting complex processes and presenting them in a clear and understandable format is required.
  • Strong data analysis and problem solving skills
  • Experience working in a regulated environment is preferred.
