The Job's Mission

The Finance Manager – Holdings is responsible for the statutory accounting for the Holding entities residing in Europe, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations, timely and accurate completion of Financial statements and overall financial integrity. Furthermore the Finance Manager – Holdings needs to maintain an adequate system of accounting records, install a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk.

This role reports into the Senior Manager Accounting Quality & Integration and requires a strong partnership with functions within the SSC such as Internal Control, R2R as well as with Corporate Accounting and Corporate Tax.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following, note that responsibilities may be added or removed as deemed necessary.

Key Activities & Accountabilities  

Financial Results

  • Responsible for the financial statements
    • Company and Indirect Tax returns
    • Provide statutory adjustments
    • Act as primary point of contact for any Tax (i.e. VAT) and administrative duties
  • Function Management and coordination of all the accounting process in synch with SSC
    • Manage the month end closing process in adherence with corporate deadlines
    • Review/ advise on journal entries to ensure accordance with statutory accounting guidelines
    • Relation with internal and external auditors, being the primary point of reference for audits

Business Integrations

  • Lead the accounting/statutory part of the business integrations, working in collaboration with acquired teams, Corporate Tax and SSC
  • Review integration entries and ensure accordance with statutory regulations
  • Coordinate with Corporate Tax on potential tax strategies, merger implications, setup of new legal entities

Internal Controls

  • Ensure accounting books and records comply with:
    • Corporate accounting policies
    • US and local generally accepted accounting principles
    • Sarbanes Oxley (SOX 404)requirements
    • US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and local equivalent laws
  • Ensure a healthy internal control environment is in place
    • Keep up to date the local control catalog and narratives
    • Perform quarterly balance sheet review
    • Monitor execution of internal controls based on frequency established in control catalogue and run sanity checks
    • Perform yearly self assessment and risk assessment

Partner with external auditors and internal finance & compliance functions to anticipate new risks and requirements

Other

  • Statistical reporting for Holdings (e.g. Dutch National Bank)
  • Suggest updates and improvements for accounting systems
  • Manage outsourced functions like the SSC and Tax services
  • Special projects as required

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in finance/business
  • Recognised post graduate financial qualification an advantage
  • Fluent spoken and written English. Any other European language is a plus

Experience

  • 8+ years of experience in a finance function in an international company or Big 4
  • Strong Dutch GAAP expertise, familiar with US GAAP
  • Fiscal, Tax and Labor knowledge
  • Familiar with Oracle and Hyperion
