The Engineering Manager will provide leadership for Manufacturing Transfer projects at a global level.  Responsibilities will include providing mentorship to a team of engineers, providing strategic guidance for manufacturing transfer projects.

Advanced Operations is leading the creation of a global team dedicated to achieving excellence in Manufacturing Transfer (MT) This role will support our Manufacturing Transfer team being a Key Enabler of transformation delivering on “cost out” opportunities to become a global competitive advantage.

Location:  Selzach, Switzerland

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for project, stakeholder and people management including the technical assessment of all assigned projects. Will successfully lead the team to deliver key programs or projects per associated quality, time and cost constraints and provide updates to senior leadership
  • Be an effective partner across all functions within divisional and GQO organizations to deliver associated new products in line with divisional pipelines. Participate and represent the function at required business forums.
  • Develop skills matrix in line with product road maps identifying the necessary training and coaching for team members to ensure that technical and team based skills are acquired, applied and maintained by team members. 
  • Prepare and deliver annual budgets (headcount, expense and capital) for final review and approval.  Approval authority for personnel requisitions and capital expenditure requests.
  • Provide direction to the team in complex or difficult situations, remove obstacles, assign appropriate resources and interface with other functions to assist with issue resolution.
  • Responsible for the implementation, enforcement and compliance of all relevant quality, regulatory and safety standards.
  • Critically assess new product charters & financial plans to extrapolate key deliverables such as standard cost and launch requirements.
  • Identify, hire and manage contract SMEs to validate and release new process / equipment to production in line with Stryker systems & specifications.
  • Partner with HR in identifying, acquiring top talent while developing and retaining talent within the team.
  • Establish priorities imparting a sense of urgency and importance to effectively deliver new products per quality, cost and time constraints.

Qualifications:

  • B.S in Engineering or graduation from a military academy in a technical field
  • 7-15 years of engineering experience in a regulated manufacturing environment such as medical device, aerospace or automotive
  • 2-3 years of leadership and people management experience in a team based environment is required.
  • Fluent in both English and German
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, influencing and presentation skills essential. 
  • Individual must possess strong leadership skills, proven ability to coach and mentor individuals in technical skills and people development areas. The individual should enjoy working in a dynamic and results driven team based environment with flexibility essential.
  • Demonstrated leadership, project management and engineering experience in new product introduction in a regulated environment preferred.
  • Flexibility essential with strong project management skills.
  • Requires an analytical, logical and strategic thought process.
  • Experience of GD&T, process mapping, statistical methods and process/ product validations would prove beneficial.
  • Excellent PC skills (MS Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Project).
  • Excellent attention to detail.
