Summary/Objective


Reporting to the Sr. Director of Global Real Estate, the Director, Global Facility Management will direct activities amongst Stryker FMs domestically and internationally. The position will lead the optimization of service levels while reducing overall facility management costs. The position will serve as catalyst to create and maintain relationships amongst FMs within the Stryker organization. It will facilitate and foster relationships to maximize results and savings.

Essential Functions, Management responsibilities:
 

Direct and indirect management of FMs in order to leverage Stryker buying power and liaise to standardize, negotiate, and implement:

  • Processes related to facility management activities
  • Implement best practice processes to increase efficiency
  • Provide day-to-day leadership and direction to Facilities Managers (FMs)/Sr. Managers and drive global framework and consistency across multiple geographies:
    • Site furniture and fixtures – work with FMs and stakeholders to select a main line of furniture products and procure domestic and global contracts
    • Site flooring – work with FMs and stakeholders to select a main line of flooring products and procure domestic and global contracts
    • Site offices supplies - work with FMs and stakeholders to select a main line of coffee, cleaning supplies, etc. and procure domestic and global contracts
    • Service contracts for cleaning and maintenance of facilities
    • Service contracts of facility equipment, including HVAC and office equipment
    • Contract, advise on, and monitor energy
    • Ensure consistency of building security programs
  • Responsible for developing strategic plans, occupancy strategies and identifying cost efficiencies opportunities
    • Space allocation guidelines/policy
    • Space utilization KPIs
  • Oversee facility refurbishment projects
  • Direct facility management bid process and documents
  • Coordinate of emergency procedures, health and safety in collaboration with HR and EHS teams

Lead the Facility Management Forum:

  • Organize/set regional Facility Management Forums - North America, Latin America, Europe/Middle East Africa, Asia/South Pacific
  • Set cadence of Forums
  • Use the platform to increase collaboration and results
  • Drive initiatives (improvements, efficiencies, cost reductions, share suppliers)
  • Develop priorities and targets for the Forum, as well as tracking and reporting mechanisms

Other responsibilities:

  • Manage supplier relations
  • Identify the best suited suppliers and initiate business partnerships
  • Ensure high customer service standards with all suppliers and stakeholders, promoting transparency and accountability across all these arrangements
  • Overseeing the implementation of chosen options/initiatives
  • Develop creative solutions, as well as pursue new opportunities
  • Negotiate with external vendors to secure the most advantageous terms
  • Oversee the performance of the outsourced service providers
  • Examine and re-evaluate existing contracts
  • Advise local FMs on budgets - Expense/Operating budget, Capital investments
  • Ensure all legal requirements are fulfilled
  • Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness
  • Control spend and build a culture of long-term saving

Education & Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree (Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate/Facility Management, Business Administration, Project Management, Organizational Management)
  • 10+ years of increasingly responsible experience in Business Administration, Facility Management, Project Management, and overall Facility Operations (preferred)
  • People/teams management experience
