Job Description

Serves as a member of the Neurovascular Division Global leadership team. Position is responsible for the oversight, development and implementation of an effective compliance program for the Neurovascular Division in accordance with Corporate Policy #8.  The Neurovascular Division is a global franchise of Stryker with sales offices and a direct selling force in all regions of the company.  Works in collaboration with international compliance team members with regard to a significant number of complex, cross-borders health care professional interactions.  These responsibilities encompass a broad range of areas related to Compliance to include, but not be limited to: the application of laws and guidance to many unique business activities and development/implementation of corporate and divisional policies and/or procedures.  May support the broader Compliance Group as a subject matter expert or inter-divisional project leader in one or more key areas, such as: transparency, training, communications, health care professional interactions, grants and donations, indirect sales channels, issues/investigations, high risk third party vendors, risk management, auditing and monitoring.  Makes decisions of moderate to high impact and exercises independent judgment. This position is viewed as a global resource for Neurovascular compliance and influences group compliance program strategy.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for developing strong relationships throughout area of responsibility to foster an advisory or collaborative approach to proactive compliance. 
  • Responsible for ensuring the development and effective implementation of an annual  compliance plan which includes, but is not limited to: communication, training, auditing and monitoring and risk management.
  • Serves as the facilitator and provides direction to the Neurovascular Compliance Committee in accordance with Corporate Policy #8: Compliance Program.
  • Responsible for providing leadership, oversight and accountability in the development and implementation of broad-scale compliance program plans, tasks and initiatives to ensure push-down throughout the organization.
  • Participates as compliance representative in the initial due diligence and subsequent integration planning required by business development activities.
  • Maintains high level of knowledge of current and emerging laws and regulations, and periodically reviews and updates standards relating to compliance.  These include, but are not limited to Stryker Corporate Policies and Procedures, industry trends and guidance on country, state/provincial or local laws.
  • Responds to alleged violation of rules, regulations, policies, procedures and standards of conduct through the initiation of appropriate investigation procedures in partnership with Legal and Human Resources.
  • Makes recommendations to Neurotechnology, Instruments and Spine Legal and Compliance leadership and influences group/departmental strategy with regard to the development or revisions of existing policies, procedures or systems to attain high levels of performance and build competitive advantage

Education & Special Trainings:

  • Undergraduate degree required
  • Graduate degree preferred

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Recommended 10+ years experience.

  • Performs assignments involving responsibility for planning and conducting a complete project; has responsibility for the coordination of overall assignments.
  • Provides direct management to a team of 4-5 employees located within the U.S.  and internationally (manager level and below). 
  • Provides guidance and direction to less experienced staff and demonstrates well-developed leadership skills.
