We are currently seeking an Associate Manager, Facilities Engineering to support Stryker’s Orthopaedic (Joint Replacement) manufacturing facility & corporate office in Mahwah, NJ.

The Associate Manager, Facilities Engineering will be dedicated to managing a team focused on preventative & day to day operational maintenance of Stryker’s buildings, equipment, manufacturing machinery and new capital equipment for Stryker’s largest manufacturing site.

What you will do:

As the Associate Manager, Facilities Engineering you will provide process engineering support, equipment, infrastructure, maintenance, process development, and process capability improvements supporting all processes in a medical device manufacturing environment. 

You will supervise the facilities department staff and manage the continuous improvement of our facility and manufacturing operations.

Additionally, you will be responsible to:

  • Maintain and proactively improve manufacturing process equipment and process capability.
  • Investigate cause(s) of process equipment failures, gather data, and develop solutions / improvements.
  • Work with engineering and maintenance groups to develop, implement, and maintain a preventive maintenance schedule.
  • Lead technical negotiations and bid evaluations for capital equipment purchases.
  • Lead new equipment and capacity expansion installation and commissioning activities.
  • Develop and maintain appropriate documentation associated with equipment design and modification efforts, i.e.: blueprints and process flow diagrams.
  • Support process and equipment training for manufacturing associates.
  • Ensure equipment and procedures meet industry standards for safe operation.  
  • Follow corporate and departmental SOPs related to design and change control requirements of the Quality System Regulations.
  • Support maintenance group in equipment diagnostics, repairs, troubleshooting, alterations, and management of service suppliers.
  • Coach the professional and personal development of employees by providing performance feedback, establishing clear requirements and building productive working relationships.
  • Implement and support 5S and Continuous Improvements objectives.
  • Interface with key contractors for service, repairs and agreements for the facility and grounds.
  • Maintain knowledge of and adherence to the policies and procedures as they relate to the requirements of FDA Quality System Regulation, ISO 13485 and ISO 9001.

What you need:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering required. (Mechanical, Industrial, or Materials Engineering highly preferred.)
  • Master's Degree in a discipline highly preferred.
  • 5+ years related experience required.
  • 2+ years project management or capital projects experience highly preferred.
  • Previous facilities, maintenance & operations experience in a regulated environment (Medical Device, Aerospace, Pharmaceutical, Automotive) highly preferred.
  • Previous facilities, maintenance & operations experience managing and leading people highly preferred. 
  • Prior experience in design for manufacturing and new product development process experience highly preferred.

Additionally you should be able to:

  • Manage direct reports, including developing, recruiting and team building.
  • Ability to lead/facilitate problem solving teams.
  • Use statistical techniques for process characterization, validation and control.
  • Use of project management tools (Gantt and Pert charts for example) to plan, track and facilitate projects.
  • Understanding of Lean Principles.
  • Perform when necessary technical writing & manage budgets.
