We are currently seeking a Senior Staff R&D Software Application Engineer located in Portage, Michigan.

What You Will Do

As a Senior Staff R&D Software Application Engineer, you will lead the development of GUI software applications for use by Orthopedic Surgeons to allow them to plan and perform their procedures. 

You will be a key contributor to the software development process for Linux-based applications as part of medical devices that supports our computer assisted and robotic product lines. 

  • You will own the design, development of the requirements, and architecture development of Graphical User Interface (GUI) software using C/C++, Qt, on a Linux OS
  • You will work with the User Experience (UX) and User Interface (UI) team to develop GUI requirements
  • You will have technical leadership of the software application team to determine work breakdown, task management, and overall implementation of requirements/architecture
  • You will work directly with Project and Technical Leadership on breaking down work, scheduling, risks, and project updates.
  • You will interact with customers to support requirements generation and validation.
  • You will work cross functionally with multiple technical experts and internal/external training to further develop your SW development skills and better understand the medical procedures in which your products will be used.
  • You will participate in the greater Stryker software community to continually improve the way we work.

What You Need

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related field
  • 6+ years of developing production software in a team environment using C, C++, Java, or a similar language
  • 2+ years’ experience developing software requirements and architecture

What We Would Love That You Have (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Software development and experience in C/C++, Qt, Linux,
  • Experience developing Software requirements and architecture for Graphical User Interfaces
  • Experience developing SW in an Agile - Scrum environment
