The Sr. Manager of Strategic Marketing performs analyses and prepares forecasts and recommendations in the areas of product preferences, sales coverage, market penetration, market practices and sales trends. Researches market conditions to determine potential sales of a product

This role has been created to drive synergies between EMS and Physio Control, now known as Emergency Care.The Sr. Research Manager will build tools to define and drive why Stryker should own the market in Pre-Hospital.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for developing and implementing a focused market research function that supports the Stretcher, Temperature Management lines and Emergency Care lines.
  • Work closely with Market Managers, Product Managers and BD partners on existing and emerging business and market opportunities to improve our data sets and expand our ability to drive global growth.
  • Gain and understanding the customer perspective: Clinicians and Sales team
  • Support site visits with key identified customers with VOC – particularly with discussion guides and workshop design
  • Solving for unmet customer needs leading to new innovative ideas and pipeline development
  • Business case development to analyze new product opportunities
  • Develop & execute quantitative & qualitative market research efforts to drive strategic planning process
  • Strategy development and guidance for downstream marketing implementation globally
  • Drive innovation pipeline process
  • Travel in the field to understand regional needs, interact with customer and gain voice of the customer input
  • Develop and communicate the front-end design/research process with EMS and Physio Portfolio Managers.  Ensure the process is able to be duplicated, documented, and transferred
  • Develop and execute a 5-year strategic plan to consistently grow the division globally
  • Actively collaborate on teams to meet or exceed product development timelines
  • Partner with business development to develop an external roadmap to acquire, license or distribute new product that supports the strategy
  • Collaborate across the regions and cross functional teams to develop an evidence generation plan that supports growth while considering global healthcare trends, regulatory requirements, competitive activity, and customer needs.
  • Drive critical market impactful solutions
  • Balance OUS and US needs
  • Ensure we are following the CCD and Compass process
  • Maintain the Sharepoint sites for NPD and BD and VOC customer lists
  • Ensure we have a clear BD strategy, and plan for research initiatives and budget
  • Implement the FAST form throughout EMS and Physio, document and share third parties to work with, and collect in one Sharepoint site.
  • Be the lead for marketers to go to help design their research initiatives
  • Ensure collaboration cross-divisionally based on market opportunities (i.e. IMT, NV, HIS, etc.)
  • Build industry relationships to support future trends (NASEMSO, AMD, AAA, Eagles, etc.)
  • Establish a relationship with key stakeholders to review the BD and NPD opportunities researching and our strategic plan
  • Build bench of incoming team – the intent is to grow this into a team over time.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 8-10 years' experience, working in a cross functional matrix
  • Experience managing a direct reporting team and demonstrated ability to influence and lead without direct authority required
  • Experience in finance, product development, clinical, or sales
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects
  • Experience working with gated product development process
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with Quality, R&D, Operations, Planning, Regulatory and OUS partners
  • Strong written, verbal and presentation skills
  • Direct exposure to business development deals and execution and/or integration activities post close
  • Experience with market development activities
  • Strength in project management, lifecycle management and/or portfolio management.
  • Ability to assess the market and competitive landscape, conduct preliminary forecasting and demand planning, and development of initial business cases
  • Significant understanding of medical device legal and regulatory pathways
  • Ability to gain alignment from key stake holders to drive platform strategies
  • Ability to travel domestic and international approximately 40% of the time
  • Outgoing personality with outstanding communication and positive attitude
