A Research and Development Manager is responsible for building, running, and driving a new product development team within the Advanced Guidance Technology space.  You will provide guidance to your team, develop technical talent, align with cross functional teams and deliver best in class innovations.  This highly strategic role with broad organizational influence is a key part of ensuring overall business success.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Hire, lead and develop high performing team that can accomplish our business goals
  • Work with Marketing, Sales and your leadership team to develop a strong vision of the future.  Planning your portfolio and developing the right talent to align with this will be a priority 
  • Work within your domain to develop a strong technology offering.  Leverage your internal and external teams to yield a strong technology roadmap
  • Collaborate across divisions to yield positive organizational returns
  • Drive growth within your market segment
  • Manage cost, schedule, and performance of projects within your team
  • Manage and inform stakeholders of business decision.  Gather input and drive decisions
  • Ensure a positive return on investment within business

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Broad understanding of multiple engineering disciplines
  • Demonstrated ability to hire and develop engineering talent
  • 8+ years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5+ years leadership experience
  • Successful track record of bringing new products to market.
  • Prior leadership experience over hardware and software development efforts
  • Experience with Agile software development
  • Ability to communicate and influence at all levels within the organization
  • Ability to bring together multiple functions (R&D, Marketing, Quality, Operations, etc.) as a cohesive team
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Degree or background that allows you to understand engineering problems and trade-offs.
  • Preferred: Experience at a medical device company

EDUCATION/SPECIAL TRAINING:
 

  • Bachelors Degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer engineering, or related field
  • GPA minimum of 3.0, strongly preferred

Travel Percentage: Up to 25%
