  • Responsible for oversite of maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, calibration and repair on a variety of circuits, components, analytical equipment and instrumentation for laboratory and manufacturing equipment.
  • Design, develop and maintain general Calibration Laboratory processes in compliance with ISO17025 as well as other internal and external standards. This encompasses generic lab practices independent of specific equipment processed. Includes support of commercial calibration-specific application software and resultant database used for asset tracking and management.
  • Design, develop and maintain equipment specific to the Calibration Laboratory processes. This includes the following: development/oversite of sound methods, fixtures, loads, detailed documentation, software development, applications support and their documentation as well as the management of Calibration Laboratory measurement standards. Performs oversite of routine calibration activities. 
  • Develop and provide training of less experienced members of the staff in general Calibration Laboratory operations. Provide specific training on use of Calibration Laboratory standards, calibration procedures and their applications.
  • Review customers' material requisitions and capital equipment requests for inspection, test and measurement equipment to ensure the Calibration Laboratory has the capability to calibrate and maintain the equipment. Determine for each new type of equipment whether the equipment is to be calibrated in house or out of house. Provide applications support to customers in support of purchase decisions.
  • Provide direction through a consultative role to engineering designs and purchases of new equipment.
  • Identify suppliers capable of performing required calibrations and resolve technical issues with suppliers. Participate in ongoing assessment of calibration suppliers, including performing and/or assisting with periodic audits of suppliers.
  • Provide subject matter expertise for all calibration activities and Calibration Lab initiatives
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


  • Associate degree in electronics or equivalent training and certification from a vocational trade school.
  • A minimum of 6 years practical experience as an electronics or calibration technicianand/or a minimum of four years metrology experience.


  • Advanced degree (BS, MS and/or MBA) in an engineering or technical science
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to drive and deliver innovative, effective and timely solutions in a collaborative manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor others in best practices and industry standards
  • Prior experience working with electrical, mechanical, and/or electro-mechanical commodities
  • Black belt certification or general statistical quality tools knowledge with process capability; demonstrated ability to apply six sigma and statistical quality control methodologies
  • Practical working knowledge of calibration standards (e.g. ISO 17025, ANSI Z540) and associated requirements.
  • Practical working knowledge of Excel
  • Familiarity with calibration tracking or other databases


  • Significant use of standard office equipment, including computer keyboard, monitor, and mouse
  • Some overtime is required to meet customer and specific project deadlines. Typically, overtime is minimal.
  • May require minimal domestic and international travel (<10%)
