Job Description: The Portfolio Manager will be responsible for taking product concepts through the product lifecycle from ideation to market launch in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team of various subject matter experts.  This role will focus on developing and executing a digital roadmap and strategy for Stryker Surgical Technologies (ST) products and platforms.  It will include both organic and inorganic paths to help expedite digital presence and connectivity transformation.  Highlighted by interoperability of our systems, devices and products, this role will help our customers provide better and more seamless care for their patients.  In addition, to focusing on STs product portfolio, this role will be heavily involved in cross-divisional activities and consolidated learning or research to help the business move more quickly.

  • Work with marketing and marketing leadership to develop strategic rationale for organic and inorganic partnerships, projects, and development opportunities
  • Develop and execute 10 yr. roadmap for digital products and platforms within the business unit
  • Utilize cross-divisional partnerships to expand STs roadmap into various SYK businesses
  • Support NPD process and make vs. buy analyses for connected devices and digital solutions
  • Identify companies, products, technologies, and intellectual property that fits the strategic business focus, organic pipeline, and inorganic opportunity roadmap
  • Contact, develop, and maintain relationships with strategic partners, SYK business units and various other SMEs related to the success of STs digital presence
  • Preparation of materials to support all strategic imperatives (organic and/or inorganic development).  Materials will be created in a multitude of MS Office products (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Schedule, coordinate, and lead partnership reviews with Surgical and Instruments leadership
  • Execute field due diligence and voice of the customer through sales channels and key opinion leaders
  • Partner with Market Insights and third party market research companies to execute primary and secondary research, surveys, and VOC/VOS
  • Partner with Instruments Business Development, Sales, Marketing, R&D, Regulatory, and OUS business partners to identify viable acquisition opportunities
  • Support the creation, communication,  and execution of Digital Business Development strategy
  • Work with salesforce and commercial partners to expand confidence in digital solutions offerings
  • Develop global market segment assessments and identify opportunities with OUS partners
  • Key participant in BU Product and Financial roadmap creation and communication
  • Support development of projected expense budgets
  • Submits periodic reports on areas of responsibility

Minimum Qualifications:

  • B.A. or B.S. degree (emphasis in marketing, finance, engineering or related discipline preferred)
  • Excellent analytical, interpersonal and organization skills
  • Experience in successfully developing and introducing new products
  • Experience and proven track record in developing and implementing Marketing strategies
  • Experience building and executing strategic imperatives for an organization
  • Previous experience (5+ years) in Marketing / Product Management
  • Previous experience in digital product management, market insights, interoperability and software/application development preferred
  • Must be able to generate and explain detailed forecasts, guidelines and procedures
  • Must be able to analyze and resolve non-routine marketing issues using independent judgment
  • Must be able to routinely make decisions which may affect immediate marketing operations and have a divisional effect
  • Must be able to observe and correct minute inconsistencies (e.g. in the printed word, product appearance, etc.)
