The Manager, Product & Packaging Development will serve as a mentor to Engineers and Designers as a leader of a small team and will oversee the completion of new product development projects related to packaging and sterilization trays, continuous improvement projects, and quality initiatives.

Responsibilities of the Manager, Product & Packaging Development include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Direct and manage the workflow of engineers within the scope of assigned projects.  *Demonstrate effective supervisory skills
  • Oversee technical teams to ensure project plans adhere to agreed upon timelines and are within the scope of QMS procedures
  • Formulate/communicate divisional strategy for divisional Packaging and Sterilization Trays
  • Mentor and participate on cross-functional improvement teams to enhance quality of products/processes and address design issues
  • Mentor other engineers in project management best practices and industry trends
  • Manage team resource planning and allocation
  • Provide coaching, guidance, and performance feedback. Create professional development programs to enhance employee growth opportunities and output
  • Oversee team metrics and objectives that ensure business unit goals are met and surpassed
  • Orchestrate compliance with corporate packaging projects

Minimum Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Science, or a related field of study is required.  A Master’s degree in a technical or management discipline is preferred. 
  • Candidates should have 5-10 years of product and/or packaging design experience in the medical device or related regulated industry
  • 3 or more years of experience managing a team of direct reports
  • Demonstrated ability to apply design controls & risk management techniques within a regulated industry
  • Knowledge of RA/QA/GMP requirements for devices and packaging preferred
