We are currently seeking a Manager, Mechanical Engineering, Surgical Robotics located in Davie, Florida

What you will do:

  • The Manager, Mechanical Engineering leads a team in the design, development and testing of Stryker’s next generation surgical robot and provides sustaining mechanical engineering services to meet stakeholder needs.
  • Working with Program Managers and Project Leaders, this leader hires, mentors, and assigns mechanical engineering resources and negotiates requirements and schedules to meet new product development priorities within the constraints of the department headcount and budget.
  • Establishes best practices for mechanical design including requirements development, design configuration control, design review, and module / component level testing.
  • Ensures Mechanical Engineers have appropriate development tools, test tools and training to successfully and efficiently complete projects.
  • The Manager is responsible for the supervision, hiring, and employee development for personnel on the team and upholds the quality policies of the company.
  • Reports to Senior Director of Robotics R&D.
  • Hire, mentor and train new mechanical engineers and technicians on the Robotics team.
  • Coordinate Mechanical Engineering efforts with other functional engineering teams for all relevant project activities including scheduling and responsibilities for verification and validation testing.
  • Working with Advanced Operations, identify strategic vendors for sourcing mechanical custom designs.
  • Work with Quality department and supervisor to establish and enforce standard practices for ME team output.
  • Work with Systems Engineering Team and Electrical / Embedded Software Teams as required on CAPA and other production / field issues.
  • Travel as necessary for project design meetings and professional meetings. Moderate travel is required for this role.

What you need:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 10 years of experience in a regulated industry.
  • Master’s Degree is preferred.
  • Medical device is preferred.
  • The ability to manage direct reports remotely
  • Strong back ground in Robotics or Automation systems in the Medical industry is a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience with design controls.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex technology engineering programs from charter phase through new product development.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage direct reports, including developing, recruiting, and team building.
  • Experience in process capability, control, and development preferred
  • Ability to create and manage expense budgets.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of time.
